Class 2 

6000kg to 18000 kg rigid truck

About Class 2

A Class 2 truck licence allows you to drive a medium rigid vehicle, which includes trucks with a gross laden weight (GLW) between 6,000kg and 18,000kg, and certain combination vehicles.  

There are many Class 2 vehicles on the road as they include various delivery trucks, some tipper trucks, larger horse floats, and larger motorhomes. 

 

Class 4

A rigid truck 18,000kg or more

About Class 4 

A Class 4 truck licence allows you to drive a heavy rigid vehicle with a gross laden weight (GLW) exceeding 18,000kg. The meaning or rigid is that the truck has a fixed chassis rather than an articulated (truck and trailer) configuration/combination. 

This class of license is required for operating various heavy vehicles, including large trucks used for transporting goods, bulk materials, and other heavy loads. 

Class 5 

More than 25,000kg combination truck

About Class 5 

A  Class 5 truck licence allows you to operate heavy combination vehicles with a Gross Combination Mass (GCM) exceeding 25,000 kg, including truck and trailer combinations, tractor units, and semi-trailers.
